STARK's New Line-up

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

New York, July 5, 2008--NYC rock trio STARK announces their new line-up. STARK has officially replaced Josette with guitarist and engineer/co-producer, Sonic Joe Hogan. Also, Sweet Rob Endemann has left the band to raise a family in Florida, so Eric Rock ‘n Robel, formerly with Heroin Sheiks and Nova Express, has joined the group. STARK’s sophomore album Put It To Your Head, released January 26th is continuing to receive great press and radio, with recent reviews in Big Takeover and Devolution plus on the Soundcheck Magazine and Street Voice UK websites.

STARK’s song “Disturbed” is featured on Bubblegum Slutzine’s Summer CD Sampler and “OH NO!” has just been selected for a Women in Rock compilation CD and added into rotation on Indie 104 radio. “18 Again” will be re-released on the upcoming Wicked Cool Records compilation CD Goldie’s Garage, Volume 1 thanks to Genya Ravan and her two Sirius Radio shows.

STARK’s debut CD The Curse is still getting attention with play on Joey Stuckey’s Audio Style and A Quiet Time podcast. Lani Ford participated in Make Music New York again this year with a solo acoustic performance at La Guardia Corner Gardens and performed in the 3rd Annual Dynamic Music Fest July 6th in Long Island. Lani Ford has interviews featured on Indiegrrl.com and Bassgirls.com and STARK has just received an artist endorsement from Daisy Rock.

While on tour in the UK, STARK met a band broken down on the motorway and instantly befriended Lilith’s Army who will join STARK for 5 dates at the end of September, including Fontana’s and Otto’s Shrunken Head in NYC, Champs in Trenton, NJ and more.

STARK has enough material for at least 2 future records to be produced sooner than later with a lot of funny, disturbing, moving, and inspiring material out there and demos are already being recorded. For more, check out the official website www.starknyc.com or www.myspace.com/stark.
STARK's Lani Ford at Make Music New York and more STARK news

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

New York, May 23, 2008—STARK’s Lani Ford at Make Music New York June 21st.

Lani Ford will participate in Make Music New York again this year with a solo acoustic performance at LaGuardia Corner Gardens on LaGuardia between Houston and W. 3rd Street in Manhattan June 21st 3pm-4pm. Hot off the heels of the release of the sophomore album, Put It To Your Head in January, and a UK tour in March, Lani Ford will play an hour’s worth of solo acoustic material, including some brand new songs, for MMNY which is a day of live music outdoors all over the city. Last year, STARK shocked and awed the crowd outside of Otto’s Shrunken Head.

STARK recently received excellent reviews in Big Takeover and Devolution Magazines plus great online reviews on the Soundcheck-Magazine and Streetvoice UK sites. STARK has been receiving praise from the amazing Genya Ravan on her two radio shows, Goldie’s Garage and Chicks and Broads on Sirius Radio, Channel 25, for the song “18 Again.” STARK will soon be featured on the upcoming Wicked Cool Records compilation release Goldie’s Garage, Volume 1. Also, STARK’s song “OH NO!” has been receiving a lot of airplay on Radio Gets Wild in the UK.

On Put It To Your Head, deep-fried, Texas-sized vocals dripping with underground New York attitude jars the senses with catchy hooks and cool licks. It’s sweet blues-country soul colliding with charming poetic punk rock angst. All 10 songs are written by Lani Ford. STARK’s debut CD The Curse is still getting attention with “Wrong Guy” just added to rotation on Joey Stuckey’s Audio Style on Engage Internet Radio. A Quiet Time podcast has also recently played songs from both albums. Versailles Records and Bubblegum Slutzine will both feature STARK on their upcoming compilation CD’s.

STARK’s upcoming gigs include The El Bar in Philadelphia June 19th 8pm, Arlene’s Grocery July 17th 11pm and WTSR and The Record Collector in New Jersey in late July/early August. On a bittersweet note, drummer Sweet Rob Endemann will be leaving the band in June because he’s gonna be a new daddy and moving away. They welcome new drummer Eric Robel from Heroin Sheiks and Nova Express.
Andy's bass guitar to feature in Guitar Buyer Magazine in UK

Gear Geek Alert!!!!! The following blog contains information about musical equipment that some readers may find tedious, dull and not worth the cyberspace it's been written on. You have been warned.

The British 'fret-frottage' themed magazine 'Guitar Buyer' recently contacted Andy Buck to feature his very own Rickenbacker 4001 and rare MusicMan Cutlass bass in their forthcoming issue.

Andy's Ricky gets snapped by Guitar Buyer Magazine photo-guru Richard Eccleston

Andy's white Rickenbacker 4001 used to belong to a bass-playing hero of his and the instrument features in the Buck Brothers' 'Which me do you like?' video. It was his main bass for years and, despite being scarred from much 'on the road' abuse - still plays like a dream.

The black MusicMan Cutlass is Andy's main studio bass and it features on virtually every track on 'Me' - the band's debut album. It's a rather rare bass because it features a Modulus Graphite commissioned neck that MusicMan only used for a short period. Production was in the thousands and only a few instruments of its kind reside in the UK.

Guitar Buyer initially contacted Andy off the back of the www.roostamps.co.uk site he runs: a website dedicated to the sadly defunct Roost amp company. They did a fantastic feature on Roost Amps, of which Buck Brothers' Pete Sellers is a big fan, a few months ago. One thing led to another and, after the team at Guitar Buyer did some research, a request came in to feature some of his basses this summer.

'Girls, Skirts, Boots, Bikes' reviewed in First Live Music

'Girls Skirts Boots Bikes' - track review!

- Girls, Skirts, Boots, Bikes
by Buck Brothers

The 'King' of track reviews, Justin Cunningham, joins us once more to put this months track review to the test..

There’s nothing quite like it when a band just jumps straight out in front of you, slaps you round the face with a kipper and begins an out of the blue and unexpected infectious chant. This is one of those songs that instantly grabs and hypnotises.

Like the Sirens of modern day punk, the band has a reputation of catchy numbers that jump straight out of the speakers and remind you of what is truly great in life… Girls… In skirts… And boots. On bikes… Oh fuck yeah!

Almost a take off of Blurs Parklife in parts, the wildly humorous and edgy sound comes from the three-piece that is officially the fastest touring and gigging band on the planet. Fact.

But that’s not to say these guys do things by half measure… Absolutely not bar tender. The Anglo-Irish-Swedish trio that is the Buck Brothers is a quirky and original outfit that offer splendorous helpings of predatory power pop punkage and youthful exuberance.

As a unit the band has an urgency about them in the way they sound and play. It’s enthusiastic and instantly hooks you up and begins to tug. But don’t be afraid friends no pain is involved. The songs cohesive and melodic style is throughout fun and carefree which you can’t help but grin along too.

Three quarters through, the song pushes up the ludicrous and seductive onslaught with the line, ‘Show me a piece of thigh…. Loooovely!’ before entering brief respite in the music with a looooovely and uplifting guitar break that you know is going only one way… Houston we are go for launch! The final section hears the boys pump up the volume and blast back up to the contagious and catchy melody that starts it all.

I just hope the lads are playing the festival circuit over the summer as I can think of no finer tunes to bop away a Sunny afternoon too. Bravo!
Midterm Break Again on EuroRock2007 World Tour

Midterm Break has again been selected to perform on the EuroRock World Peace Tour, which this year has grown and will be filmed for a major movie.

The lads are excited to be part of this historic event, getting ready to shove off on August 27th for their whirlwind trip, starting in the USA.

A little about EuroRock:

EuroRock was conceived by LouRicca in 2005 to tell the world that we can all work together no matter where we are from, what religious beliefs we have or what politician runs our country. The kick-off tour in 2006 was accepted way beyond our expectations, with many people curious as to the format and mission of EuroRock. EuroRock is not only multi-national, but multi-genre rock’n’roll.
EuroRock’s ultimate goal is the show the world that Peace is possible if we all work together towards a common goal no matter where we are from or what color our skin is or what religion we are. We are all people.
We are all “Rockin’ The World For Peace”
EuroRock will be filmed by award winning Documentary film and movie maker Dave Pederson who produced Super Size Me which gained an Oscar nomination and many film festival awards. Also, Vic Colicchio who produced the film Summer of Sam which was directed by Spike Lee, and High Times Pot Luck as well as other films to Vic’s credit. The EuroRock documentary will not only be filmed for a movie, but will broadcast on a popular network, most likely mtv which will be produced by Alexandra Townsend.

There are 14 bands in all. 6 girl bands/solo artists, 6 boy bands/solo artists and two surprises, one being a local talent in each market. About 28 artists in all. All bands arrive in New York City from Europe on or before August 28th and finish the first East Coast leg September 18th . A Westward leg is planned and will begin September 22nd and continue into California from the south and into Seattle by early October. From November to January 2008, we move the tour to the United Kingdom and plan to bring EuroRock2007 to a close and, at the same time, begin EuroRock2008. EuroRock2008 will then regroup at then end of January 2008 and launch in the Spring of 2008. EuroRock is split into two nights for some venues, one for others.

A full schedule of the tour is found at: www.myspace.com/eurorock
