"The Big Eye" Limited Promo Edition finally available on CD

The split EP, "The Big Eye", by Hinkel and The Mirrors, with cover art by Andy from Bluvertigo is finally available as CD starting from July 7th 2008.
This special piece of collection, including the tracks "Shine" and "Run" by the side-project of Fools Garden and the tracks "Though" and "My Sonic Love" by the quartet from Milan, will be released in a limited promo edition, available only via mailorder, at the price of 5 euros plus shipping.
You can already pre-order your copy of the CD or request further info by sending a mail to: hinkel@anakina.net
At the same time with the CD release the radio promotion of the tracks included in this special project will start as well.

Theme of the Security/Privacy contrast: A spy-camera every 50 Italians

Milan, March 9th 2008 � The newborn Echophonic & Piperine release the split The Big Eye, rock & psychedelic pop proposal with influences from 70's, 80's, 90's and electro between the rock band from Milan The Mirrors, recently discovered by Steve Zuckerman (producer of Les Paul & Friends with Keith Richards, Sting and Eric Clapton, founder of the GEMS, of the New York & Internet Expo and of the Platinum Awards show), and Hinkel, solo project of Volker Hinkel, founder/guitarist of Fools Garden. Hinkel presents two tracks taken from his own album "Not A Life-Saving Device", in which with an experimental character and more rock and intimist root he expresses his ideas but keeps some features already shown in his original band, to which also the other two musicians, with whom the album was recorded, belong now.

The release is characterised by the collaboration with Andy from Bluvertigo who embellishes the work by offering as cover one of his paintings created in his workshop, Flu-On. Art works with great depth coming from the pop-art and shown in rock clubs and international exhibitions.

The big eye is a clear reference to 1984 by George Orwell. The current situation in which the eye of the big brother of cameras, phone interceptions, personal data collections, power abuses, the levelling of conscience and feelings and the mental overwhelming made by the ideologies go beyond the respect and freedom of people. The concept is an idea by Marco Ortensi (The Mirrors).

Exactly on March 9th, at the same time with the release of the record, the article "A spy-camera every 50 Italians" appeared on "Il Corriere Della Sera" reads:

"The security-privacy contrast is not justified behind over a million eyes: every day we go out, in the big Italian cities, we end up under the objective of about 100 cameras. The privacy guarantor, Francesco Pizzetti: �We are worried about the diffusion of the phenomenon; very soon every square metre of our cities will be under surveillance �. The electronic eye has a purpose, but it is used for another one. The reality has already gone beyond the rules. An FBI-like operating centre, unique in Europe. This is the model of Milan, city which is second only to London for the cameras/inhabitants ratio."

�What a fantastic year it's been for 9Lies!

It was the year which saw the 'Behind It All' album being released to critical acclaim, with massive radio airplay around the globe, and all without a record company being involved! It was also the year which saw the song 'Blind' being snapped up by Warner Brothers, and 'Behind it All' the title track from the album finding a new home as theme tune to reality TV show 'Our Prisoner' in the USA. We've been beamed up and down from satellites around the world more times than we care to remember.

In the last 6 months alone 9 Lies have travelled to Poland to play the Vena Music Festival to thousands of screaming fans, licensed a song (We R1) to Techno Sweat for use on their exercise Music CD's, 18000 people joined us on our 2 International Myspace sites and in the last 3 months we've gathered over 900 groupies since joining the Bebo social networking site, with fans placing our songs on over 1500 of their play lists!
