Over the last few months I have been flat out working on a whole new MyMusicStream website. Exciting times are ahead for MyMusicStream members with tons of great new features, a hugely improved members area and better social networking features.

MyMusicStream has been online for almost 5 years and 2010 is looking like it will be a great year for the MyMusicStream community. The new website will be a result of the many years experience, member feedback and current industry trends.

After the launch of the new website there will be many new major features going live over the coming months. By early 2010 the site will be so much fun for music fans, artists and the music industry in general.

The goal for MyMusicStream has always been to be a central hub for online music where you can discover artists, listen to music, read industry news or watch streaming music videos to your heart's content.

The expected launch date for the new site will be towards to end of November.

Ever wondered how some artists have thousands of fans on MyMusicStream? Well it's time for me to offer you some tips on how you can also.

The first thing you should ensure is that you have uploaded your music and some photos. Having a photo is important as it means you can get featured in various places around the site. Also try and upload your music videos, post news, events, etc. The more content you post, the more likely you will get discovered by fans.

Secondly you should try and participate more in the community, which one of the best ways of getting more fans and friends. You can do this by posting comments on tracks, videos, photos, news articles, forums, etc. This will ensure that you are more known to the community and you will find more people discovering your music.

Another excellent method of building your fans is to offer a few free downloads. Every time a member downloads your track they automatically become a fan of your music. Many fans forget to actually click the "Become a Fan" button but if they are downloading your music, they must like your music and are automatically added to your fan list.

MyMusicStream is undergoing a major rebuild at the moment and there will be tons of new social networking features that will improve the online community, and help fans discover your music.

Through our partnership with Berkleemusic, you can browse online courses, watch instructional videos and sign up for free lessons. This section of MyMusicStream will be expanded over the next 6 months to include blogs, how to articles, knowledgebase and more.

Free videos and music lessons from Berkleemusic.com, the online continuing education division of Berklee College of Music, offers over 130 accredited online courses and certificates in Music Business, Music Production, Guitar, Bass, Voice, Music Theory, Harmony & Ear Training, Songwriting, and more.

I have made some improvements to the members area and will continue to do so
over coming weeks. A few members have mentioned that it was a little confusing.

I have just completed a change to the copyright selection feature. Rather than selecting a single license for your artist profile you can now select a license for each of your tracks.

Your tracks have been set to reflect your previous copyright license selection and can be updated in the members area.

Play All Music

A few members have request a play all functionality on artist profiles and in various sections of the site. As a result I have added this functionality. On your profile page a fan will be able to select from playing all your tracks, an album, latest tracks, demos, singles and live recordings. This is a great feature and will no doubt increased the number of plays artists receive from fans.

Over the last week we have been experiencing some performance issues with the MyMusicStream site, which caused some services to go offline with errors messages appearing. As a result I have just upgraded the server with our web hosting provider. Their support is excellent and the upgrade was performed behind the scenes without any downtime.

The new server means general performance improvements and a faster loading site. This upgrade was about due with the growth MyMusicStream has been having lately. Sorry if you have experienced some problems with the site over the last week. All fixed now!

Just a quick update to let you know that MyMusicStream now offers RSS news feeds. This means big things for artist promotion and is a fantastic method for fans to stay up to date with their favourite artist or discover new artists and music.

MyMusicStream has been maintaining strong growth in traffic and membership levels meaning fantastic new music is discovered through the site every day. It's been a while since I last posted and update so here is the latest news.

New Design

Without making too many major changes I have improved the overall design of the site along with a new navigation system. The site is now much easier to navigate and has now inline with all the latest web standards. As you are using the site you will no doubt come across many design and functionality improvements.

News Area

The new news blog area of the site now contains feeds from various well known music media, bringing you all the latest music, music business and Entertainment news. This area of the site is a great place for artists to gain exposure and fans to get all the latest on their favourite artists with artist news feeds coming from the artist profiles. Song Rating and Reviews

This new service now allows MyMusicStream members to rate and review artist tracks. You can rate a song and add a comment while you are logged on and listening to a track, on the music charts or on the artist profile pages. Ratings will help artists build recognition for their work and offers music fans an interaction with artists

Improved Music Player

Some changes have been made to the music player so that it now includes the options to buy, download, rate and review tracks. A few bugs were also fixed which sometimes caused the same tracks to be heard twice.

New Radio Stations

Blues, Classic Rock, Classical, Grunge, Pop Punk, Psychedelic, Reggae and World Music stations have all been added to the player with even more coming soon.

Some artists will have noticed automatic email reports being delivered. This helps artists so that they know how much airtime they are getting, who is downloading their tracks, who is reviewing their

Just a quick update to say that I have launched a new service which I believe is a world first. There is no other site that I know of that does, so better make the most of it now before it takes off!!

What is it? I call it "Listen Be Heard" technology which basically means that the more music you listen to on MyMusicStream the more airtime you earn for your own tracks.

But that's not all! As an added incentive I have modified the referral program so that you can earn additional airtime from your referrals with unlimited potential.

Check out the new radio player. You can now login and also download/purchase tracks directly from the player. All you have to do is log into the player and watch as you track plays start increasing. The more music your listen to, the more airtime you earn.

Premium members earn 5 times the amount of airtime as free members so don't forget to consider the upgrade, its very cheap and offers tons of services. Its actually not much more than a beer a month in most countries.

Digital Music Sales

After much development work digital music sales are now live on MyMusicStream!! This services enables indepedent artists to earn an income from their work while giving music fans the opprtunity to support their favourite artists. A shopping cart has been developed for the site and currently the payment processing is taken care of by paypal. An alternative payment processor is also been sourced with more payment options and currencies.

Artists that wish to sell their music need to log into their accounts and set their tracks as a paid download option. Track prices are set by the artists and their are recommened prices in differen't currencies.

MyMusicStream now has over 1300 members and site traffic of over 35,000 hits a day. Site traffic and memberships are growing faster every day. MyMusicStream is also starting to work with indie record labels to provide even more support for artists. Its been over a month since I last updated you on the latest developments on MyMusicStream. Apart from some of the usual cosmetic changes I often make to the site I have implemented the following new features.

New Radio Stations As the site builds momentum and more music is uploaded I have now implemented Jazz, Progressive, Folk Rock, Punk, Powerpop, Rap, Funk and Soul radio stations. Of course there are many more to come as the site grows.

Improved Artist Statistics You will notice that I have made some improvements to the artist statistics section on the members area. You can also now view individual track and album statistics.

Recommend To Friends Your artist profile pages now have a recommend to friend or Tell-a-friend function that allows your fans or site visitors to recommend you and your music to up to 5 of their friends at a time. Its a nice little marketing tool for artists to help build up your fan bases.

Video Pages The online video functionality is still in its early stages and there are a few of you that have uploaded your vids. As more and more videos are uploaded I will work on video charts, search/browse pages and more to help promote the videos. I will also be implemented a LOFI type for videos so users with slow connections can still view to videos.
