News - Corky's Cats are to bejoined by Ed Mann (Frank Zappa, Andy Summers etc) on percussion for a UK tour Julu/August 2008. Dates to be announced soon.
Betsan Lloyd – Vocals & Keyboard, has been composing and writing songs since she was eight years of age, composing for many theatre productions as well as for her own projects. With a strong musical background and many instruments at hand, Betsan and her family played many concerts as countless different multi instrumental ensembles. Betsan’s enthusiasm and drive for music led her to master the piano, harp, flute and guitar and to become a competent singer and performer. Betsan’s first pop group which was established in junior school was her first journey out of classical realms - a journey she is still exploring to this day. She has to date performed on countless stages including the Royal Albert Hall, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Red Rocks, and The (original) Marquee, to mention but a few! At 17 she released a single "Y Diwedd / Eryr" through Solar Sound in 1982 which still receives airplay on Radio Cymru. The single is available online today as "rare memorabilia!!" Betsan graduated in Music and Drama and went on to work in the music industry, playing and touring with some big names including The Lucy Show & The Sugarcubes with Bjork. She also qualified as a teacher in her subjects and has given a great deal back teaching in schools and privately, many of her pupils have gone on to achieve in their own right. Betsan now spends her time playing live with Corky’s Cats, composing and recording and raising her family.
Phil Powell - Bass. Initially a guitarist AKA Sessionguitarman, Phil has played across the UK with many bands and is highly respected for his pioneering work as one of the, if not the worlds first on-line session guitarist (sessionguitarman.co.uk). In 2002 when Betsan decided it was time to get her songs out to the world Phil ground the frets of his old Fender bass and got cracking on the unique playing style you hear in Corky’s Cats. Phil spends his time playing live with Corky’s Cats, writing, recording and occasionally teaching (for the fortunate few!). Phil is also the recording engineer and producer at CatBass studios, the home of CatBass Productions.
Colin Owen - Drums. Colin is a highly respected UK drummer and first class drum teacher who has been in such great demand that he often had as many as 4 different bands on the go. He has embraced the world of Corky’s Cats and played his first gig as a Cat in November 2005. He has played with local bands and also top Colombian artists out in Colombia, including Colombia’s top latin percussionist Wilson Viveros, whilst studying and adding Latin techniques and rhythms to his repertoire. He maintains his most influential tutor was top U.K. drummer/educator Dave Hassell. Colin now spends his time playing live with Corky’s Cats, recording with Corky’s Cats and teaching drums in his studio (CODA) in Northop.
Ian Stopes – Guitar. Ian has worked with a long list of big names from Country through to Jazz. He has recently joined Corky’s Cats and his full biog is to follow soon.
