Deviant & naive Ted

Hip Hop, Psychedelic, Jazz

Who the fuck are Deviant & Naive Ted?

Deviant has been lurking around the west of Ireland, promoting hip hop, turntablism, drinking tea and professional wrestling since time began (roughly 2001). First coming to attention via the legendary 091 club (“best club in the country”, JimCarroll, Irish Times 2003, how cool is that?), he was one of the few banging out the rap beats weekly via residencies at GC Underground and Rootdown in Galway as well as up and down the country when promoters wanted a skratch DJ but couldn’t afford Mek or Tu – Ki.
Getting sick of the relentless tide of pussy and money being thrown at him he upped sticks to Brighton in 2005, hooking up with the Grandeurs of Delusion crew and performing on the “Stale Breath Of Fresh Aah” album released by Stanley Lockjaw’s fledgling Nausecorps imprint in 2007. He however found the Sussex drawl made his ears leak a jellylike pus and withdrew from the Queen’s rule before the album was released.
Finding himself back in his parents’ house in the middle of the bog he set about finishing off all those beats he’d been fiddling with for months, releasing the CD-R album “Fragments & Stammerings” (the first collaboration with Naive Ted) to little/no acclaim. While sitting around late one night discussing politics and fine wine, with longtime buds Jimmy Penguin and Mikey Fingers and new skratch fien’ about town Tweek, the idea for Community Skratch Games was born. Three months later a load of loons gathered in the Bierhaus in Galway town to shout obscenities at some geeks rubbing records. Twas fuckin’ class and they’ve been doing it ever since.
The eight armed skratch beast that is Vince Mack Mahon was also born at this time, they performed their first show in a closet at the top of the stairs in a house full of drunk arty girls and boring hairy men. Twas equally class and they’ve been doing it sporadically since, releasing their untitled skratch music album in April 2009.
“Screw Sick – Scenes One to Three”, released by Deviant & Naive Ted in February 09, was composed entirely with a turntable, mixer, loopstation, software multitracker, a load of hippy records and not a jot of programming or FX came near it and still noone but Johnny Doobs gave a shit.
His debut solo 7″ , "Beauty / Shoes Not Not" is due for imminent release on Alphabet Set records.
You’ll love it.
and peep these loons for related goodness
Naive Ted is an aberration. His only public output being the collaborations with Deviant and a solo mishap entitled "The Already Familiar Demise of Kayfabe" (available for free at http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/27875). It is believed he suffered terrible facial injuries in a routine tea making exercise sometime in the early 90s, prompting his withdrawal from society. A chance encounter with Deviant in an online chatroom debating the greatest Intercontinental title championship match of the 90's ( Deviant goes with Hart v Smith at Summerslam 92, Ted's preference is unknown) and a mutual appreciation of the Missisippi Sheikhs and ladies footwear led to the two collaborating on various pieces of wonky skratch music. Ted has performed only once live, at Stress!! in Galway, Halloween 07. It is not known whether he will reappear.

Theory of Mind

Jazz, Progressive, Psychedelic

Theory of Mind® (BMI) is the trade name used by Crater Rock Music, LLC artist and composer, Tony Belcastro, a high functioning autistic savant with Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depression) who plays guitar, bass, percussion, piano/keyboards and various other instruments when needed. His current focus is mainly on guitar.

Tony first began showing an interest in music before he was one year old, when he was humming notes of familiar songs in key; by one year of age he was twanging rhythms on spring doorstops. Tony began playing drums at the age of 10, bass guitar at 11 (which he played in his first band at the age of 12) and by age 13 he was teaching himself electric guitar.

Tony wrote his first song in 9th grade. He tried forming many cover bands up until he left high school, but eventually decided to never play other people's music again. By the late 80's, after several failed attempts at keeping bands together, Tony began performing acoustic blues and improvisational jazz guitar. In the early '90s, not long after becoming a Christian, he stopped playing guitar to pursue a career as a freelance magazine photographer. He began experimenting with music again near the turn of the millennium and in 2006 his first CD with Crater Rock Music, ENTER THE MISFIT, was released. In 2007 Tony began to explore jazz once again and by 2009 he decided to focus mainly on recording improvisational jazz fusion.

Theory of mind, in psychological terms, means having an understanding that other people's minds are different than your own and having the ability to comprehend, or develop theories about what other people are thinking, or feeling, simply by observing them. It is often referred to as the ability to "walk in someone else's shoes." It is a common and somewhat controversial belief that non-autistic people develop theory of mind at an early age and are able to reciprocate emotionally, even when they are very young, while most autistic people do not.

Tony’s musical endeavor with Crater Rock Music has been named Theory of Mind because music is a natural form of expression for him. He is able to convey the emotions and experiences within himself to other people through his compositions more effectively than he can verbally. Because of Dyscalculia (a mathematics learning disability), Tony has had extreme difficulties trying to understand and learn much of the technical aspects of music theory; he firmly believes his musical abilities are spiritual gifts.

It is Tony’s hope that his music will help to cultivate the acceptance and appreciation of autistic people everywhere, as well as demonstrating that autism should be seen as a blessing instead of a curse, or a disease.

The phrase "Theory of Mind" IS A REGISTERED TRADEMARK (USPTO #78/896362) of Crater Rock Music and Theory of Mind, Hampton VA. All Theory of Mind music and images are owned exclusively by Crater Rock Music, LLC.
Trinkets from the afterlife

Psychedelic, Experimental, Classical

In early 1977 a young guitarist took on a new job as caretaker for an old estate house in a remote area of Arkansas. He had heard local legends tell of people going insane, and or committing gruesome murders after living at the house. The rumors only made the prospects for him that more exciting, and a chance to work on and study musical ideas. In the course of a few months, the guitarist and a couple of his friends had formed a rock band beginning a bitter-sweet career that lasted till 1985. in the early days, the band discovered the house had acoustic properties giving their music an eerie sonic feel. High ceilings, thick walls, and a huge fore-room added to the sound. The realization soon became evident that someone or something was guiding the band's musical abilities far beyond their own knowledge or skill. Things began to appear in physical form without explanation, including so called orbs, disembodied voices, faces of people and animals and so on.. The band members were at first frightened but soon came to grips with the idea of other entities guiding their musical prowess. From the beginning, the band was all about originality, and other concepts fused together to form a sound like no other. Elements of rock, blues, folk, and classical music was the end result that kept them occupied day, and night. After time spent honing their music, and entertaining the presence in the house, they toured regions of Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma, finally coming home to a tragic event that would claim the life of their singer. Like many before him, he had fallen to the vices of alcohol, and drugs. Arrested one night, he staged a mock hanging of himself in his jail cell, tragically back-firing taking his own life. Two years later to the day, the band's bass player found dead of unknown causes, his body perfectly balanced on the rafters inside the old house. As for the drummer, his wife and family were forced to commit him to the state hospital where to this day still resides. the founding member and sole survivor of this band, eventually left the shelter of the old house, taking along with him the music, and memories of that era in his life. The music of this band (Trinkets from the afterlife) has been written and produced by that same guitarist, piecing together the lives, and events of those stories lived out in the past. Together with two new band members, each piece of music has evolved through time , and possesses a mood, and feel for it's particular moment of the whole experience. It is now available for the first time to lovers of music that tells a story with sound.

PEACEKA

Trance, Psychedelic

The brain behind the Peace-Ka project is Thoma Piscaglia from Cesena, a small city situated near the Italian Adriatic coast. Things kicked-off for Thomas after his illuminating first trip to Thailand in 2001, where he attended one of the many legendary Full Moon parties. For him, it was his first psy-trance party ever, although many would follow after. Thomas his 1st activities as an artist started to take place a few years after his ear- and eye-opening party experiences. He first started to play the decks as a dj in parties around Italy, followed by a serious addiction to twisting knobs and buttons on midi-controllers and manipulating twisted sounds in software, which finally led to producing his own sonic productions. The results lead to Thomas building up his own home-studio, consisting out of most of the necessary hardware and audio devices one needs for producing as a professional sound-engineer. Nowadays his studio consists of his beloved access virus TI, a nord rack2x, a powercore mk2, a liquid mix mastering processor, and a Korg Kaoss pad 3. The speaker section is provided by a pair of Adam p11 studio monitors. Thomas his main project is known under the name Peace Ka, next to having his other project named Assault Junkies, together with his good friend Andrea Lunghi (Dust). Some of his other side projects and hobbies include: promoting small underground electronic music events in clubs around his area, creating and managing a web portal which’ aim is to provide upcoming talents a place where to showcase their material and last but not least he’s working as a producer for a local recording studio. All in all it’s more than clear that this man’s mission is to contaminate as many people as possible with his passion for electronic music.
