Chris Beirne

Bluegrass, Country

What do you get when you combine Chris Beirne’s talents with his technical abilities on steel guitar, slide guitar, harmonica, and vocals with his performing and recording experience? You get “Freezerburn”, Chris Beirne’s second CD. Although Chris is confident in many styles, “Freezerburn” showcases his ability to flawlessly fuse Bluegrass with Americana. Chris’ original styles include Blues, Rock, Bluegrass, and Country, but he has also chosen to include a unique array of material in his repertoire. Best known for his work with Americana music legends, The Crabby Grass Boys, Chris is a seasoned touring musician,
Chris’ musical career began in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. It was in the Chicago area that Chris started playing guitar at the age of 15 years. He studied with many notable ‘masters’ and learned various techniques such as a new ring finger under blocking style for pedal steel. It was there that he developed a style of music that grabs hold and won’t let go. From Chicago, Chris followed his music and moved on to Portland, Oregon where he honed his skills with the group called Balance. It was in Oregon that Chris recorded his first CD “Burnside Cadillac”.
In addition to his own solo career, and his experience with The Crabby Grass Boys, Chris has performed as a member of Balance, and the duo Chris Beirne & Miguel Martinez. Other recordings that Chris has played Steele or Dobro on are with Eric Moore "Songdog", Blake Wood “Safe in Heaven Dead”, Alton Rex “Soul Faces”, and Alton Rex, “Live at Longhorn Cavern”
Some of Chris’ key performances have been the “Father’s Day Rose Remembrance for the Department of Veteran Affairs” at the Viet Nam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, and at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia.
After living in Portland, Chris moved on to Austin, Texas where he knew they would find the musicians who would understand the music that is dear to his heart. This is where Chris’s new CD “Freezerburn” takes off.
Chris Beirne
The consummate Vocalist, Guitarist, Steele Pedal, Dobro and Harmonica player
for the 21st Century!
Gavin and the Rough Riders

Country, Bluegrass, Folk Rock

GAVIN, who is he and where did he come from? Back in 1993 a young man from southern California spent his spare time writing country tunes, influenced by the likes of Marty Stuart, Garth Brooks, and Travis Tritt. Performing for family and friends, he was often told he had what it took to make it to the big time. “Go to Nashville,” they said. “Music City, USA. If there’s a place for you in the business, it’s there.” Taking on the stage persona of “Travis Brooks”, he did just that. It wasn’t easy. There were some stumbles, not the least of which was the moniker, an awkward amalgamation of his favorite artists. Influences and roots were only to be expected, but a unique name for a unique style was needed. Thus, Gavin was born. Then there were the expected difficulties of making a start in a city filled with broken dreams. He worked (and still works) straight jobs to sustain himself between gigs and to finance a growing in-house studio, with superior computer skills contributing to a web presence that grows each week. His songs can currently be heard on Myspace, DigitalRodeo, MusicNation, and Garageband, where they’ve received plaudits from casual listeners as well as serious artists. An unusual and potentially huge opportunity came his way not too long ago in the form of the Nashville Star television program. Amongst all the assembled talent, Gavin made it as far as the Regional Finals, itself an honor for a Southern California boy with a dream. The dream lives on. With his first studio album, This Love Can, almost complete, Gavin seems poised on the brink of stardom.

In Like Flynn

Indie, Rock, Bluegrass

The rockslut, the ocd sufferer and the insomniac, bringing you music whilst your probably still sleeping.

In Like Flynn all started when all 3 members (though not together) checked out some of the local bands. All though none of them have ANYTHING in common with one another, aside from music, they all thought they could probably do a better job of being in a band and suck less at it.

They still think this way.

"We like playing music especially in the mirror, as you get to watch yourself!"

"We sort of love music abit.

and flossing.

and you."
Redheaded Stepchild

Acoustic, Folk, Bluegrass

History:

Born in 1996 amidst the fertile folk music scene of Buffalo NY, Redheaded Stepchild is the creative vehicle for the combined talents of singer/songwriter Kathryn Koch and guitarist/songwriter David Nanni. Throughout the late 90’s the band worked relentlessly across their region, building a strong reputation as a live act and selling thousands of live recordings. By 2000 Kathryn and David decided to take their show on the road. With the release of their first studio recording, “Time Will Tell”, the group began a schedule of non-stop touring that would last for five years. By 2005 Redheaded Stepchild had played well over twelve hundred shows across 22 states, sold over six thousand recordings and built a solid fan base of true believers. Today Redheaded Stepchild is making its presence felt in the songwriting community in their new home of Nashville TN. Settling in just long enough to feel at home, the band will take their show on the road again in early ’07 hitting festivals and touring through the end of the year.

Sound:

Built around Kathryn’s fiery vocals and the lyrical and melodic sensibilities that both artists share, the songs are steeped in tradition yet intensely original. With a wide palette of acoustic sounds including Koch’s stellar harmonica and saxophone playing, Nanni’s driving guitar style and the often-featured guests on banjo, fiddle or piano, the bands CD’s are a treasure trove of the familiar and the new. But it is the live show that they live for and the live show where they shine! With amazing presence and diversity, Koch never fails to deliver soulful, heartfelt and inspiring performances. Often belting out her lines from five feet behind her microphone, Kathryn can leave audience members feeling more like witnesses!

Quotes:

“Koch has a beautiful voice and heaps of soul” Nashville Music Guide, Nashville TN“

Soaring vocals… a constant down-home flavor” Mountain Times, Boone NC“

… rootsy originals soaked in pure Americana” Erie Daily Times, Erie PA

“A heaping of Americana… plus an essential trace element of pure salvation” The Buffalo News, Buffalo NY
