All-fem Metal band Dormitory Effect was selected to play this special event on Monday, July 7 for the release of "The Gits" a documentary of this special band led by a very special female, Mia Zapata, who was murdered just as her band was receiving mainstream attention. This event will feature an all-star jam and a vigil for Mia. This is not be missed, and will take place at The Delancey in NYC; 168 Delancey Street. The two-day Metal extravaganza "Metal Siege", which was to take place 6/14 & 6/15 in Keyspan Park in Brooklyn has been postponed due to the untimely passing of its key organizer, Shannon Maginn, aka Princess F'in Hacksaw.

New dates will be announced soon. If you have purchased a ticket, hold onto it - they will be honored.

Hey, everyone! We're playing tonight in NYC, come hang with us!

We haven't played the city in a really long time, but we're back and we're psyched! If you're looking for something to do tonight we'll be playing at The Delancey @ 11pm along with other cool bands, a Metal DJ and hot go-go-dancers. Come early and see the other acts. We can't wait! New York's all-female Heavy Metal juggernaut Dormitory Effect has been added to the very cool Pennsylvania Rock Show. This station is very supportive of Indie artists and we are thrilled that they didn't just add one of our songs...they added our ENTIRE EP, "Wealth of the Disease" :)

DE is also the featured artist on Indieshows.net, a site that allows bands to post their gigs (inclusive of flyer artwork) and fans blog.

Lastly, The Deli Magazine has made Dormitory Effect a featured artist as well. Check it out at thedelimagazine.com/kitchen.

All-female Metal juggernaut Dormitory Effect has been selected to be played on XM Radio! Dirtbagmusic.com has been given its own show, and the ladies have been chosen as one of their first artists. The new show info will be posted soon!

Dormitory Effect, New York's premier all-female Metal band, has lined up new gig dates with more to come! The dates are all over, from their stomping ground of Long Island to down South in Virginia. Check out our show listings to see if we're coming near you. If not, let us know where you are and we'll make plans to get there!

On February 19 we had the honor of opening for the voice of Hatebreed and Kingdom of Sorrow, Jamey Jasta. It was a great night and, even on a Tuesday, Long Island showed the strength of its scene. We want to thank everyone who went, posted and promoted for us :)

We have been hand-picked to be part of a special showcase run by A&R Unlimited. The bands with the best performance and crowd will be scheduled to play an exclusive show for decision-making record label execs next Spring. There are a lot of bands out here on Long Island, so we're honored to have been chosen!

A&R Unlimited, along with other LI music businesses, wants to show New York City music moguls that great NY talent is on Long Island, so instead of just looking in NYC or West, they'll start looking East :) this is the very first one and will determine whether these types of shows are worthwhile. We want to show them they are, and give the same opportunity to other deserving bands out there.

All-female Metal act Dormitory Effect has been featured on not one, but two prestigious radio stations in New York - WBAB and WUSB. WBAB is a widely respected commercial station featuring renegade metalhead and indie music supporter "Fingers". He spun the track, "What I Have Done" on his famous "Homegrown" show. WUSB is broadcasted from Stonybrook University and is widely respected college station with indie supportive network of programming. DE is or has been played on several WUSB programs such as Rich "Divaman" Hughes' show. They have also been interviewed on "Making A Scene" hosted by Rich L'Hommedieu, and performed acoustically last week on "Long Island Sounds" with Bill Frey.

Dormitory Effect vocalist invited to sing on Jim Breuer show TODAY! (Satellite Radio)

Dormitory Effect is THE NY Tri-State area's premier all-female Metal band. Their singer, Susan, who has been called by a Grammy-nominated artist "the best female hard rock/metal vocalist right now", was asked to sing TODAY on the comedian Jim Breuer's Sirius radio show "Breuer Unleashed" for their "Heavy Metal Karaoke". Susan will be showing she is worth every bit of acclaim given her. The show is from 4-6pm.

Jim Breuer played with Dave Chapelle in "Half Baked", was SNL's "Goatboy" and is also known for his infamous impersonations of AC/DC's Brian Johnson and Metallica's James Hetfield.

• Selected to play NXNE in Toronto

• Bassist Urith featured in the August edition of bassgirls.com
