Alright, round one. Stay the Stranger vs. Blogs. I’m going to take a shot in the dark and say that none of us have ever ventured into t he blogosphere before, but we all think this may be the best way to let you all know that WE CARE about our fans. So, what better to do than to dedicate some time to each and everyone one of you, in a gigantic, mass-published, band journal called the OFFICIAL STAY THE STRANGER BLOG! I’m really working on making this more exciting. Exclaiming is the beginning.
With this all said, I’m going to use this avenue to let you know where we are, what we’re doing, how we’re doing, what we’re wearing, how you can be involved and so on.. … … Mind you, some of this process is simple, all out rock and roll glory. Some of it is at times as joyous as watching mud dry. We’ll avoid those parts as much as possible.
So, right now we’re just about to finish recording our debut album and it’s been one hell of a journey. One fact none of you may know is that none of the members of Stay The Stranger are still together. No, we’re not broken up. We’re all geographically separated.. that’s the most political term I could use. You see, we’re all currently active military, Air Force in fact, and we’re trying to challenge all the odds. Uncle Sam said, “Hey Drew, you’re going to South Carolina! And Dan, move on to Virginia! Oh, and while we’re at it, JD, you’re takin’ a trip to Arizona. Josh? You.. can just stay in New Mexico forever. “ So, we’re all over the place! But the beauty of technology and the internet is that the world is a much smaller place and networking something like an album is a lot easier than it used to be. So, we stay in close communication using email, phone calls, carrier pigeons, messenger scribes and other cutting edge technology to make sure that you’re all going get this album we wrote, against all odds. (i.e. pigeon dies of bird flu.)
Now, as soon as the album is completed, we’re moving on into the next phase, which is our CD design portion. I was wandering through the internet trying to find a decent artist and I was extremely lucky to find someone with the rock and roll talent of Del Borovic (www.delborovic.com) Man, this girl is something else! She does a lot of anime work as well as all kinds of other things. On top of being a great artist and a pleasant person to work with (Unlike Drew… :D) she’s also a great person. So, I highly recommend that if you have anything you need done regarding illustration, crawl on over to her site and see what she can do. And she’s super affordable!
Graphic design done and out of the way would leave us with the production of the CD. Using Disc Makers, we’re looking at dropping a little over a grand on the production of the CD’s alone. That’s a lot for us considering it’s about damn near impossible to raise money without playing live shows. But we’re doin’ it, reachin’ deep into the pockets, laundering money from our own bank accounts behind our significant others’ backs (hope they don’t read this), selling ourselves occasionally on the streets and making lemonade at small stands in upscale suburbs. It’s slow, but it’s doing the job! … … … …
So, that’s the idea. The plan. Nothing has gone as planned, so I’d say that this is the most idealistic, positively hopeful account of everything we’re trying to do. Will it work? Well, that depends more on you guys than us. You see, we’re just a bunch of jackasses if we don’t have fans that love and care about us. And we know that you all do so, so much! (JD will know if you don’t. And you don’t want JD to give you that… look.) So, overall, we don’t care if you give us a dime. We don’t care if you burn our CD and give it to a million people and we don’t get a penny. We don’t mind if you don’t buy a CD. We just really want to make you all happy, give you something new and connect with fans in a way other bands haven’t. On this level, personally, deep.. and intimate, with the lights turned down and the candles flickering… Oooo yeah. Err, no, I mean… We want you all to know that YOU are what’s important. And our gift to mankind? A little rock and roll. Good deal, I think.
I’ll be contributing to this blog once a day or once every other day, take time to let you know who we are and what we’re about. Also, I will answer every question asked! Unless there’s a million questions.. then I’ll hire someone to act like me to do it. :D Well, I suppose if there’s no response, then… I’m talking to myself. And I’ll do that too!
